An OLIC (Oriented LIC) [39] image can be produced by using a sparse noise texture in combination with a ramp kernel to show both flow direction and flow orientation (positive direction) (Figure 1). An enhanced LIC [40] image (Figure 2) is generated by iteratively taking an output LIC image as the input for the next LIC cycle, followed by a final high-pass filtering process. In fact, the visual style may be altered when a sparse noise texture is employed in enhanced LIC.
